★ The Northstar Story
A CITY
WITHIN A CITY.
Opened in 1963 as the Northstar Inn, this was Minneapolis's first mixed-use development — offices, retail, hotel, and the genesis of the city's famous skyway system, all interconnected under one roof. "A city within a city," they called it.
"The hotel draws its inspiration from the original Northstar — today we honor that legacy with a space that nods to its iconic past."
Reimagined as Hotel Indigo Minneapolis Downtown, the building keeps its mid-century soul: terrazzo floors, ornate lighting, a brick fireplace, vinyl records on the walls — and Star Bar & Bistro at the center of it all.
